‘Marina’, selected for Habana Film Festival

One more time, one of our films has been selected for an international film festival. In this case, Marina will participate in a programme called “En sociedad”, included in “Latinoamérica en perspectiva” section as a part of the Habana Film Festival, that will take place from December 3 to December 13 in Habana, Cuba. This is the third time that we receive good news from this documentary film, because during the last quarter has been selected for other international festival, ‘FILMAR en América Latina’, as well as been awarded at MiradasDoc....

Marina, awarded the Best Canary Documentary at MiradasDoc

We are proud to announce that one of our documentary films, Marina, has been awarded the Best Canary Documentary at MiradasDoc. This event, also known as International Documentary Film Festival of Guía de Isora (Tenerife), pays attention preferentially to documentary films on social issues and produced or filmed in developing countries and the third world, as well as those that go deeper into topics such as the North-South relations , emerging social processes in the developed world, etc. The documentary, directed by Haliam Pérez and produced by Rucs Collective, is about the story of a Cuban inmigrant who decides to return to his country after many years living in Spain....

Evolution, co-produced by Sebastián Álvarez, awarded twice at the San Sebastian Film Festival.

We are pleased to announce that Evolution, a co-produced film by one of the Canary Islands Connection members, Sebastián Álvarez, has been awarded the Special Jury Prize and Jury Prize for Best Cinematograpghy at the San Sebastian International Film Festival. The film is a science fiction production directed by Lucile Hadzihalilovic and mainly recorded in Lanzarote. Of course, its success implies a new great achievement for Sebastián Álvarez and his producer, Volcano Films....

‘White on White’, produced by José A. Alayón, awarded at the Coproduction Forum of San Sebastian

On the occasion of the Coproduction Forum of San Sebastian and its collaboration with the Marché du Film (Festival de Cannes) and the I.N.C.A.A. (National Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual Arts) of Argentina, this year four producers with participating projects will be able to continue their international career by participating in the Ventana Sur market (Buenos Aires, Argentina) and in the next Producers Network of Cannes edition. ‘Marina’ has been selected for ‘FILMAR en América Latina’ film festival

One of our documentary films, Marina, has fortunately been selected for FILMAR en América Latina film festival, that will take place from November 13 to November 29 in Geneva, Switzerland. Evolution, co-produced by Sebastián Álvarez, selected for the San Sebastian Film Festival

It’s great news to report that one of our members and Executive Producer of Volcano Films, Sebastián Álvarez, will attend the San Sebastian Film Festival as a co-producer of Evolution. The film, directed by Lucile Hadzihalilovic, is a co-production between Spain, France and Belgium and relates the story developed on a remote island inhabited solely by women and young boys. There all the boys are subjected to a mysterious medical treatment and one of them, Nicolas,  senses that his mother is lying to him and is determined to find out what is really happening on the island. We wish the best of luck to Sebastián and Evolution in one of the most important film festivals in Europe....

Dead Slow Ahead awarded at the Locarno Film Festival 2015

One of our films , Dead Slow Ahead, has been awarded the Special Jury Prize at the Locarno Film Festival 2015,  where more than 200 films were watched. The film directed by Mauro Herce, nominated for the “Cineasti del presente” section, surpassed thirteen other films grouped in the same category. Of course, this fact supposes a very important landmark for one of our members, José A.Alayón, director of El Viaje Films, which has co-produced this film along with Nanouk Films and Bocalupo Films....

Dead Slow Ahead has been selected for the Locarno Film Festival.

We are pleased to announce that one of our documentary films, Dead Slow Ahead,  has been selected for the Locarno Film Festival, which takes place from August 5 to 15 in the small Swiss town. The film has been directed by Mauro Herce and coproduced by Nanouk Films, Bocalupo Films and  El Viaje Films, which becomes the first Canary producer that participates in such an important event. Throughout its 67 years history, the Locarno Film Festival  has occupied a unique position in the landscape of the major film festivals and every August, right in the heart of Europe, becomes the world capital of auteur cinema....

“Cleo”, produced by Ana Sánchez-Gijón, awarded at the Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film

It’s great news to announce that Cleo, an animated series produced by one of the members of Canary Islands Connection, Ana Sánchez-Gijón, has been awarded the Tricks for Kids Award for the Best Children’s Animated Series at the 2015 Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film. This successful series  is about the story of a puppy who wants to have a colored brackets, as its owner. and it is being one of the most important productions carried out by La Mirada, a Spanish producer founded by Ana Sánchez-Gijón.
